Authorities in Camden County made a significant arrest when they discovered 28-year-old John Howard concealed in the trunk of a vehicle during a traffic stop, as reported by the Brunswick Police Department.
BRUNSWICK, Ga. — A suspect linked to a fatal stabbing incident in Brunswick was apprehended two days after the crime, the Brunswick Police Department confirmed.
Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Gloucester Street at approximately 4:46 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, following reports of a stabbing. The victim, 57-year-old Ronald Carswell, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
John Thomas Howard, identified as the suspect, was taken into custody on Wednesday evening. His arrest was the result of a coordinated effort among various local law enforcement agencies. Authorities found him hiding in the trunk of a vehicle stopped in Camden County.
The vehicle was driven by Regina Alvin, 49, from Texas, who faces charges for aiding a fugitive in evading capture, according to the Brunswick Police Department.
Howard was charged with murder and possessing a knife while committing a crime.
Howard and Alvin are being held in the custody of the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office.
“We sincerely thank our law enforcement partners for their invaluable assistance and continued partnership in keeping our communities safe,” wrote the police department in the arrest announcement.
