On Thursday, House Democrats unveiled a collection of photographs taken from the estate of Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender. Among these images, a particularly unsettling series stood out: quotes from the controversial novel “Lolita” by Vladimir Nabokov, inscribed on various parts of women’s bodies.

The release included 68 photographs featuring a range of well-known figures. Notable among them were New York Times columnist David Brooks and magician David Blaine. The images also captured filmmaker Woody Allen, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, political philosopher Noam Chomsky, and Steve Bannon, a former strategist for the Trump administration.

“She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock,” reads another quote written on the instep of a woman’s left foot, while a copy of the novel can be seen in the background.

Still another photo, an out-of-focus shot of a woman’s cleavage, includes the line: “Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth.”

Epstein, 66, died in his jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting federal trial on sex trafficking charges.

Thursday’s release came one day ahead of a congressionally mandated deadline for the Justice Department to release its files in connection with the notorious case.
