TRI-CITIES, Tenn. (WJHL) – Saturday night was a showcase of thrilling holiday tournament action, with teams battling it out for a place in the finals and one team already celebrating a victorious triumph.
During the Betsy Bash semifinals held at Elizabethton High School, the Unicoi County boys’ basketball team secured a spot in the championship game after overcoming West Ridge with a 61–51 victory. Later in the evening, Woodberry Forest maintained its impressive form by defeating the host team, Elizabethton, with a score of 77–69. This sets up a thrilling championship clash between the Woodberry Forest Tigers and the Unicoi County Blue Devils, scheduled for Sunday at 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, the 29th Annual Doc Maples Holiday Hoops Tournament concluded with the Tennessee High Lady Vikings taking home the championship trophy. They clinched the title with a hard-fought 64–56 win over the Morristown East Hurricanes. This victory crowned the Lady Vikings as the Doc Maples tournament champions, wrapping up their remarkable tournament performance in style.
