WASHINGTON — The Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed to an impressive $1.5 billion, drawing significant attention as Saturday’s drawing approaches.
This enormous jackpot has been accumulating since September 6, following two winners defying the staggering odds of 1 in 292.2 million.
Should a lucky ticket holder claim the prize on Saturday night, they could walk away with a cash value of $689.3 million.
Ranked as the fifth largest in Powerball’s history, this jackpot also stands as the seventh largest among all U.S. lottery jackpots, with the highly anticipated draw set for Saturday, December 20.
In 2023, Powerball has already awarded three substantial prizes: a record-setting $1.8 billion win in September, a $526.5 million jackpot in California in March, and a $328.5 million prize secured in Oregon in January.
