On Friday evening, a tragic accident took place on State Road 25 Spur close to Georgia Avenue in Woodbine.
CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. — Officials reported the heartbreaking news that a 9-year-old girl lost her life after being hit by an SUV in Camden County on Friday.
Around 7 p.m., state troopers responded to an incident involving a Toyota RAV4 and a young pedestrian on State Road 25 Spur near Georgia Avenue in Woodbine.
According to authorities, the Toyota was heading eastbound when the child, who was walking southbound, stepped into the eastbound lane and was struck by the vehicle.
She was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where officials confirmed she later succumbed to her injuries.
The girl’s sister, Alexis White, provided a statement to First Coast News on Saturday, saying 9-year-old Jordyn “was special and she had a gift. She loved to pray, she could light up a dark room just by herself. She had compassion, she had love for everyone.”
In a statement, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office said it “extends its deepest condolences to the child’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We ask the community to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers.”
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
