ORLANDO, Fla. – A man is facing serious charges after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in cash and merchandise from a store in Orlando, then attempting a daring escape by climbing onto a rooftop, authorities report.
Tyrell Staffine was apprehended by police after a burglary that occurred in the early hours near the intersection of North Westmoreland Drive and West Colonial Drive. Law enforcement responded around 4 a.m., alerted by surveillance footage capturing the break-in.
Investigators claim Staffine used a large bolt cutter to gain entry to the store’s register area, seizing approximately $900 in coins and cigarettes worth $2,000.
Upon their arrival, officers observed the suspect scaling the roof of a nearby building in an effort to flee. Police then deployed a drone to monitor his movements as he attempted to conceal himself. Eventually, he surrendered to the authorities.
Staffine now faces several charges, including burglary of an occupied structure and grand theft.
