PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In a story that underscores the importance of vigilance and instinct, Brown University custodian Derek Lisi shared his experiences leading up to last weekend’s tragic shooting on campus. His simple advice: “Go with your gut feeling.”
Before the deadly incident on December 13, Lisi had repeatedly noticed a suspicious individual frequenting the Barus and Holley building and its vicinity. This observation prompted him to report the person multiple times, a decision he reflects on with a sense of duty and concern.
“We interact with the students all the time,” Lisi explained to Nexstar’s WPRI. “This hits close to home because it’s our workplace. We spend more time there than we do at home because of the shift that we work.”
