Fans of Percy Jackson and the Olympians should brace themselves, as Episode 4 promises to be a nail-biter, as teased by the show’s cast.
Previously, Episode 3, titled “We Board the Princess Andromeda,” featured Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), and Tyson (Daniel Diemer) embarking on and swiftly disembarking from a cruise ship under the sinister command of Luke (Charlie Bushnell). However, the upcoming Episode 4, “Clarisse Blows Up Everything,” seems poised to leave fans particularly anxious about Tyson’s fate.
In a recent interview with DECIDER, Daniel Diemer hinted at the uncertainty surrounding his character’s future. “We’ll see if he survives. Who knows?” he remarked. “It’s a scary world out there, and in the Sea of Monsters, anything can happen. So hopefully, fingers crossed, he comes out the other side. But we’ll see.”
The trio of Percy, Annabeth, and Clarisse reunite with Clarisse (Dior Goodjohn) in the upcoming episode, as they navigate treacherous waters in pursuit of the Golden Fleece. This quest coincidentally leads them to the same island where Grover (Aryan Simhadri) is held captive by Polyphemus.
Book enthusiasts are aware that aboard Clarisse’s ship, a perilous event unfolds, putting Tyson and the entire crew in grave danger. While no spoilers will be revealed, those unfamiliar with the book series should prepare themselves for a heart-pounding adventure—or perhaps, a tumultuous boat ride!
“I hope that we’ve kind of built enough kind of emotional connection to the boy that if anything were to possibly happen, that tears could possibly be falling,” Diemer said of whether or not fans might be shedding tears at the new installment.
He added, “But at the same time, there’s so much excitement around it too; it’s also a really fun episode, as well.” To that, Diemer’s co-stars, Bushnell and Simhadri, chimed in with their own thoughts, saying the drama will continue into Episode 5, “We Check In to C.C.’s Spa & Resort.”
“It ends on such a good cliffhanger,” said Bushnell of the mid-season episode as Simhadri said, “I’m excited for people to see Episode Four.”
In an early preview for the upcoming chapter in the Percy Jackson adaptation series, Tyson appears to be shoveling coal in the boiler room as Clarisse whips the ship’s wheel while tackling the first challenge in the treacherous Sea of Monsters, Scylla and Charybdis. In Greek mythology, the two monsters force sailors to choose between a whirlpool that swallows ships and a six-headed creature that snatches deck-dwellers. So, which will the group choose?
After Episode 4, Season 2 still has four episodes left, all culminating in the Season 2 finale, “The Fleece Works Its Magic Too Well,” airing on Disney+ January 21. The first three episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 are now streaming. New episodes release on Wednesdays.
