In an unsettling incident last week, authorities in Mississippi took a woman into custody for allegedly inserting razor blades and fishing hooks into baked goods at two Walmart locations.
On December 15, Biloxi police were notified when razor blades were discovered inside bread bought from Walmart more than a week prior. Following this report, police detained 33-year-old Camille Benson after sharing surveillance images of her leaving a Walmart, as reported by WLOX.
Spanning 11 days, shoppers at two different Walmart stores in Biloxi reported finding razor blades hidden in both a banana nut muffin and several bread loaves. Initially, investigators considered these incidents as isolated events until December 15, when store managers linked the latest complaint to previous cases.
“We found a muffin with a fishing hook embedded in it,” Lt. Candice Young revealed to WLOX. “Someone had pierced these items through their plastic packaging.”
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Nevertheless, Benson faces charges of attempted mayhem.
KABB reported that Benson has a lengthy criminal history in Bexar County, Texas, which dates back to 2019. Her most recent criminal case in Bexar County was for narcotics, though she was previously charged with assault, trespassing, obstruction, and prostitution.
Benson’s bond was set at $100,000.
