In just over a week, Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper will bid farewell to 2025 with their signature flair. As anticipation builds for their annual New Year’s Eve broadcast, Cohen has confirmed that the celebrations will indeed include some spirited fun. He shared the details during a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live.

During the year’s final taping of the show, Cohen revealed to his guests, actress Kate Hudson and rapper Ice Spice, that he and Cooper are set to enjoy drinks while counting down to 2026 live from Times Square on CNN. “Yes, we can drink. Kate just asked,” Cohen assured. “We will be drinking. Yes. It’s my job to get Anderson drunk.”

The question of whether the duo would partake in alcoholic festivities has lingered since CNN temporarily prohibited on-air drinking following previous controversies. During the 2022 New Year’s Eve broadcast, Cohen, in an inebriated state, made headlines for his blunt critique of then-Mayor Bill de Blasio. “Watching Mayor de Blasio do his ‘victory lap’ dance after four years of the crappiest job as the mayor of New York,” he said. “The only thing that Democrats and Republicans can agree on is what a horrible mayor he has been. Sayonara, sucka.”

Cohen also took aim at Ryan Seacrest, referring to the ABC Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve host and his team as “a group of losers.” In the aftermath, Cohen expressed regret for his remarks about Seacrest, later apologizing on his Radio Andy show. “I slammed the ABC broadcast and I really like Ryan Seacrest, and he is a great guy, and I really regret saying that. I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it,” he admitted.

Cohen also blasted Ryan Seacrest, calling the host of ABC’s Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve and his crew “a group of losers.” He later apologized to Seacrest for his rant, telling his Radio Andy listeners, “I slammed the ABC broadcast and I really like Ryan Seacrest, and he is a great guy, and I really regret saying that. I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it.”

While rumors swirled that CNN had fired Cohen following his outburst, he was ultimately brought back to co-host with Cooper the following year — but alcohol was not. Instead, the longtime friends took shots of pickle juice. However, after backlash from viewers, the network decided to lift its alcohol ban in 2023, allowing Cohen and Cooper to once again take shots of tequila … responsibly, of course.

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
