CLERMONT, Fla. – Tragedy struck in Clermont on Tuesday evening as a multi-vehicle collision claimed the life of one woman and left two others injured, according to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The serious accident unfolded around 4:56 p.m. at the intersection of US-27 and Greater Groves Boulevard, where a roadblock remains in place as authorities continue their investigation. The crash involved a total of five vehicles, creating a chaotic scene in the late afternoon traffic.

Among the vehicles involved were a 2017 Audi A7, a 2019 Subaru Outback, a 2015 Lexus RX, a 2020 Toyota Camry, and a 2023 Honda Civic. The driver of the Audi, whose identity is still pending confirmation, sustained critical injuries. Despite being promptly airlifted to a hospital, she sadly succumbed to her injuries.

Additionally, the crash resulted in injuries to the driver and passenger of the Subaru. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening, and they were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver and passenger of the Subaru were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers added.

The remaining drivers were not taken to the hospital and remained at the scene, according to investigators.

“The sequence of events that led to this crash are still under investigation,” the release reads.
