(NewsNation) — A popular over-the-counter supplement for joint discomfort has been pulled from the market due to excessive lead content, as disclosed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration on Monday.

Handelnine Global Limited, operating under the name Navafresh, has issued a recall for two batches of its Rheumacare capsules. This decision followed FDA tests indicating that the product contained “higher than permissible levels” of lead.

The affected batches are labeled CAM040 and CALO79-N, and the capsules were sold to consumers across the United States via the website www.navafresh.com.

The FDA warns that prolonged exposure to elevated lead levels can pose serious health risks, including cognitive issues, depression, nausea, abdominal discomfort, motor coordination problems, and peripheral neuropathy, which affects muscle control.
