During a Christmas Day special of This Morning, Kate Winslet found herself fuming after being ‘stood up’ by the show’s hosts.

The 50-year-old star of The Holiday was featured in the show’s festive edition to promote her directorial debut, Goodbye June.

In a comedic segment for the audience, the presenters, including Alison Hammond, 49, took a trip to the iconic cottage made famous by Winslet’s character in The Holiday.

The beloved film focuses on two heartbroken women, portrayed by Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz, who decide to exchange their homes in the English countryside and Los Angeles during the holiday season.

As they wander into the picturesque village, Cat Deely is heard asking, “Al, we’re supposed to be hosting the Christmas Day show soon, where are we?”

Alison replies: ‘I thought we’d swap the studio for a special location this year.’

Cat then looks at Alison’s phone and realises that the presenter has gotten very mixed up about the location of the Christmas special.

She says: ‘No, no, no Al this says “Kate Winslet will be joining us in the This Morning studio on Christmas Day…”‘

The skit then cuts to the studio itself, where Kate is waiting for Alison, Cat, Ben Shephard and Dermot O’Leary to arrive.

‘Are they coming?’ she asks.

Dermott, noting the extent of the blunder says: ‘So Kate Winslet is back in the studio and we’re here.’

Looking visibly angry, Kate jokes: ‘I’m very happy to wait, but I just thought…’

Good Morning Britain also has a stellar line-up of interviewees on Christmas Day, including Corrie’s Claire Sweeney who will be revealing all about the hotly-anticipated Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover, Corriedale.

Kate’s appearance on This Morning comes after the actress revealed that she loves fans who recognise her from the iconic Christmas film The Holiday.

She shared how much she enjoys it when mothers and daughters explain their Christmas traditions every year that revolve around the much loved movie.

In fact, she said fans will talk to her about The Holiday more than the film which launched her fame, Titanic.

She had not expected the mother and daughter bond to be so strong through the film, she said: ‘What’s so lovely is that mothers and daughters come up to me in the grocery store and they say, “Oh, Kate, we just love The Holiday, it’s our little ritual at Christmas.”

‘They have things that they eat every year. They sit down to watch it. It’s a tradition and I just love that.’

This Morning will air on Christmas Day at 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
