Shooting leaves 19-year-old injured on Westside, police say

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the individual involved in the Westside shooting has been apprehended.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Authorities in Jacksonville have announced the arrest of a suspect following a shooting incident that occurred on the Westside this Wednesday.

According to reports from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched around 10:20 a.m. to the 9500 block of 103rd Street. They discovered a 19-year-old victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the neck and leg. The victim was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, where his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the altercation resulting in the shooting arose from a dispute between the suspect and the victim.

The JSO has assured the public that the suspect is now in custody and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
