Passenger explodes at Alaska Airlines staff for refusing to let her cram 2 cats under her seat

A holiday traveler, now nicknamed “Two Cats Karen,” stirred up quite the scene at the Las Vegas airport. Her frustration boiled over at Alaska Airlines staff when they refused to let her squeeze two cats under her seat, prompting her to exclaim, “Why are you ruining Christmas?!”

Alexandra Compton was en route to Portland, Oregon, on Sunday when an airline representative informed her that there wasn’t sufficient space for both cats in a single carrier. This news sparked a heated outburst from Compton.

In a video that has since gone viral on TikTok, Compton demanded, “Show me the policy, then, before I booked the flight, that said that I had to have a certain weight of cat to go under the seat!” as she confronted the staff member.

Remaining composed, the airline employee clarified that the issue wasn’t the weight of the cats, but rather that the animals needed enough room to move and thus required separate carriers.

The airline worker then calmly explained it wasn’t about weight of the pets, but rather that the kitties didn’t have a full range of motion and would need separate containers.

But Compton’s outburst only got louder and more hiss-terical.

“You haven’t even seen my cat, so you’re not letting me go home for Christmas!” she fumed.“You’re telling me I can’t go home for Christmas!”

“I don’t have people here to watch my cat. ‘I don’t live here. I live in Oregon. I have an Oregon ID. I need to go home for Christmas,” she said in the footage, titled “Two Cats Karen.”

The video, which has raked in 222,000 million likes on TikTok, then shows the airline worker asking her to lower her voice.

“My mom tried to and your website obviously isn’t user-friendly, so I’m asking you to show me right now, where she would’ve learned that before she booked my flight, so this issue would’ve never happened?”

Compton also claimed to have travelled for “many years” with her kitties without any issues.

“I’m letting you know that there is a policy around your pets that don’t have enough room, and you don’t get to decide the company policy,” the employee said.

Alaska Airline’s  policy states that “up to two pets of the same species and similar size may travel in the same carrier,” as long as “no body parts protrude from the carrier and the animals are not in distress.”

It wasn’t immediately clear if the cats were in distress. Alaska airlines didn’t immediately return a request for comment Friday.

Compton ultimately bought a second carrier and got on a later flight with both cats, according to a Facebook post by Compton.

“They made me leave the airport, buy a second pet carrier, a second seat to put the second cat under On a whole new flight 3 hours later,” she wrote.

“F—k Alaska Airlines, their ‘policies’ and lack of customer service. I hope you all get coal for Christmas,” Compton said.
