More holiday bark sold at Aldi recalled over undeclared allergens

Silvestri Sweets Inc. has broadened its recall of holiday candy products available at Aldi stores across the U.S. due to the presence of undeclared allergens, the Food and Drug Administration announced.

The company, based in Geneva, Illinois, has identified that its 5-ounce Choceur Holiday Bark bags may contain allergens not disclosed on the packaging. Specifically, the Cookie Butter Holiday Bark could contain undeclared pecans, and the Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark might have undeclared wheat. This poses a significant health risk to individuals with pecan or wheat allergies, potentially leading to severe or life-threatening allergic reactions.

This recall expansion covers additional lot numbers and “best by” dates that were not included in the initial recall issued in late November. The affected candy products have been distributed nationwide through Aldi’s network of grocery stores.

Fortunately, there have been no reported cases of illness related to this issue so far.

No illnesses have been reported.

The recalled Cookie Butter Holiday Bark is sold in 5-ounce Choceur stand-up pouch bags with the following lot numbers and dates:

  • Lot 28525, Best By 05/2026

  • Lot 29925, Best By 05/2026

  • Lot 30625, Best By 06/2026

The recalled Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark is sold in 5-ounce Choceur stand-up pouch bags with these lot numbers and dates:

  • Lot 28525, Best By 08/2026

  • Lot 29925, Best By 08/2026

  • Lot 30625, Best By 09/2026

The company said the expanded recall was initiated after it was discovered that Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark had been packaged in Cookie Butter Holiday Bark packaging, resulting in undeclared allergens. An investigation found the issue may have been caused by a temporary breakdown in the production and packaging process.

Customers who purchased the recalled products should not eat them and are urged to get rid of the items.
