Kyle Richards has opened up about the emotional turmoil her daughters faced following her split from Mauricio Umansky. The renowned star of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” shared insights into how the separation impacted her family, particularly her children, and also provided an update on her sister, Kim Richards, who has recently relocated to Florida.

Earlier this year, Kim made the move to Florida to focus more on her career, coinciding with a personal milestone for Kyle as she parted ways with Mauricio. The separation affected their three daughters, with the youngest, Portia, nearing her 16th birthday at the time. Although her two elder daughters are now adults, the transition was challenging for the family.

During a discussion on the RHOBH After Show, Kyle revealed, “My daughters have come a long way since the separation. They truly struggled,” as reported by BravoTV. She emphasized that despite their age, the emotional impact was significant. “Some people might not realize that just because the kids aren’t little, they didn’t face difficulties. Sometimes, being younger and unaware might make things easier. My girls went through a tough period — dealing with depression and adapting to this new reality. But I must say, they’ve made remarkable progress.”

Amid the challenges, Kyle suggested that the experience has ultimately strengthened the relationship she shares with her children, hinting at a deeper familial bond forged through adversity.

But Kyle hinted that the split strengthened the bond she has with her kids.

“We are such a tight-knit family anyway — all of us,” shared Kyle. “Our relationship has taken a different… I don’t know. It’s gone to a deeper level, especially as they’re getting older, too. We’re, like, best friends. We have so much fun together. We share more than we used to, across the board… It’s been really great in a lot of ways, too, even though it’s been really difficult.”

“Even though [Mauricio and I are] not under the same roof, it’s still coparenting in a way,” Kyle added. “There’s less coparenting to do because they’re older, anyway, but we still do discuss what’s going on in each of their lives.”

Kyle shared that sometimes Portia will let her know that she’s planning to stay the night at Mauricio’s because his home is closer to certain hangouts with friends.

“Then I’ll have to call [Mauricio] and say, ‘Listen, you need to keep an eye [out] and find out who’s coming over to the house, what time [Portia] gets home,’” she said. “He’s like, ‘I’m on it. I’m on it.’ I know he makes his own rules… When there is something going on with one of my girls, we will call each other and say, ‘This is what’s going on. What do you think?’ We kind of go back and forth.”

Speaking to The Daily Dish, Kyle shared that her sister Kim is “good” after her move to Florida.

“She has the most beautiful grandchildren I’ve ever seen; they’re unbelievable, and I’m really close with them, and I love them so much,” shared the star. “I just went to Kim’s granddaughter’s little Halloween thing at school, and it was so fun to go and see, and have that relationship with them is nice.”

“[My grandniece] was, like, calling my name when she was supposed to be taking a group picture, you know,” she added. “I’m just obsessed with them.”
