In a tragic turn of events, a woman from Texas was taken into custody early Wednesday morning, facing charges related to the shooting death of her boyfriend.
According to Bexar County Sheriff Julian Salazar, the incident involved 36-year-old Courtney Renee Hooper and her 42-year-old boyfriend, who engaged in a heated dispute over a cellphone and a vehicle. While specifics of the argument were not disclosed, Salazar indicated that it culminated in a fatal shooting.
Responding swiftly to the scene around 6:30 a.m., deputies discovered the victim with a gunshot wound. Despite their immediate efforts to administer life-saving techniques, the victim tragically succumbed to the injuries, as detailed by Salazar.
In an unusual twist, Hooper reportedly handed over a video to the deputies, believing it would clear her of any wrongdoing. However, Sheriff Salazar remarked that the footage, in fact, seemed to further implicate her in the crime.
It was also revealed that law enforcement had previously been dispatched to address domestic disturbances involving Hooper, though these incidents involved different individuals and not the current victim.
There were children at the home, he said.
Hooper has been charged with murder.
