In Park Forest, Illinois, Detective Tim Jones, who was left paralyzed by a shooting nearly ten years ago, has passed away. The community plans to pay tribute to his life this Saturday.

Back in March 2016, Jones was just 24 when he suffered a gunshot wound to the head while responding to a burglary incident.

This Saturday, Tinley Park High School, where Jones once studied, will host a celebration to honor his memory.
The schedule includes a public walk-through from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a special walk-through for first responders from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The commemorative service is set to commence at 2 p.m., celebrating the life and legacy of Detective Jones.

Jones was shot and paralyzed after working for the Park Forest police department for less than a year.
It was the first time a Park Forest officer had been shot in the line of duty in over 20 years, officials said.
“Tim will always be an inspiration and a reminder of the power of strength, faith, and the unwavering support of family and loved ones,” the Park Forest Police Department said in a statement. “While our hearts are broken, we remain incredibly proud of the fight he gave.”
