LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic incident unfolded Friday night in Lake County, leading to the arrest of a man accused of DUI manslaughter. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash resulted in the deaths of a man and a woman.
Troopers reported that Seenarine Hardeo, a 50-year-old resident of Groveland, has been charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter following a devastating collision involving three vehicles.
The accident took place around 7 p.m. on State Road 33, just north of Swamp Drive. Hardeo was driving a 2009 Mini Cooper in the northbound lane when, according to an FHP crash report, it veered into the southbound lane directly into the path of an oncoming semitruck.
The collision forced the semitruck to swerve into the northbound lane, where it crashed into a 2006 Chevy Silverado. The impact caused the Chevy to overturn, sending both vehicles off the road, as detailed by the troopers.
Tragically, the driver of the Chevy, a 22-year-old man from Frostproof, and his passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Tallahassee, were declared dead at the scene. The semitruck’s driver, a 67-year-old man from Miramar, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, though they were not deemed life-threatening, according to reports.
Hardeo was booked into the Lake County jail, where records show he was being held on no bond at the time of this report.
FHP is still investigating.
