The confrontation took place around 3:36 p.m. on the 3700 block of West 71st Street in the West Lawn neighborhood, police indicated.

According to police, the female victim reported that a male suspect in a Chevrolet SUV had aimed a gun at her during an argument. Officers subsequently tracked down the vehicle in question.

The vehicle’s driver, a 17-year-old male, was apprehended without resistance, and a weapon was retrieved from him, police stated. Meanwhile, another 17-year-old male suspect exited the car and attempted to flee the scene.

While trying to arrest the second teen, CPD officers struggled with the suspect, and a firearm that was concealed in his clothing was discharged, officials said. The offender was arrested and taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
