Comedian Jimmy Kimmel delivered a unique “Alternative Christmas Message” on Thursday aimed at a British audience, highlighting what he described as a surge in “tyranny” within the United States while also taking a jab at President Trump.

This message, which was broadcast on Channel 4, aligns with a holiday tradition dating back to 1993. Each year, a contemporary and often provocative celebrity is invited to present a Christmas message in the style traditionally reserved for the monarch.

Kicking off his remarks, Kimmel admitted to being somewhat out of touch with the happenings in the U.K. However, he quickly pivoted to commentary on the situation in the U.S., stating, “I can tell you that from a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year. Tyranny is booming over here.”

Kimmel continued by referencing reports in British media, asserting that the U.S. president desired to silence him due to his lack of admiration. He claimed there was a government threat against him and his employer, leading to their temporary removal from the airwaves. Yet, as he quipped, a “Christmas miracle” occurred—which, he clarified, actually took place in September.
