Authorities reported that a confrontation erupted inside Tipsy Bar & Grill, where the alleged gunman clashed with a security officer prior to brandishing a firearm.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Three individuals are recuperating from wounds sustained during an altercation that turned into a shooting at a dining establishment on Jacksonville’s Westside, according to law enforcement.
During a press briefing, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detailed the incident, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday at Tipsy Bar And Grill situated on Edgewood Avenue South.
Reports indicate that a woman and two men were subjected to multiple gunshots, with one of the male victims identified as a security guard employed at the venue, as stated by the JSO.
The investigation uncovered that the altercation originated within the venue when the suspect engaged in a physical conflict with the security guard before drawing a gun and opening fire.
Another security guard tackled the suspect to the ground and held him until officers arrived and took him into custody, JSO said.
The three who were shot were taken to a hospital for treatment and are expected to recover.
The suspected shooter and the three who were shot are all reportedly in their 20s.
This is not the first time JSO has responded to a shooting at the bar this year.
Management at Tipsy sent the following statement to First Coast News:
“No one wants something like this to happen at their business. We have police outside, we have security; at this time we would like for the police investigation to conclude before we make any further comment.”
Officers are reviewing surveillance video and speaking to witnesses to learn more about what led up to the shooting. They believe this is an isolated incident.
