The panelists on The View found themselves in a heated debate over Marjorie Taylor Greene’s recent rebuke of President Trump’s remarks about the late filmmaker Rob Reiner. The discussion highlighted the tension surrounding Trump’s controversial statement and Greene’s unexpected criticism.

President Trump made waves after Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, were tragically found murdered in their Los Angeles residence over the weekend. On Truth Social, Trump made a baseless claim, suggesting that Reiner’s death was a result of “the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”

In the midst of this controversy, The View aired a segment from Greene’s recent interview on CNN, where she criticized Trump’s comments as “classless” and unbefitting of the presidential office. Greene further expressed her belief that the “dam is breaking” and foresaw a challenging outcome for Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections.

Sunny Hostin, one of the hosts, posed a thought-provoking question to her colleagues, reflecting on the unexpected nature of Greene’s stance: “Would you have guessed this time last year that Marjorie Taylor Greene was the canary in the coal mine? I mean, would you have ever guessed that?”

Whoopi Goldberg seemed to agree. “Only if you believe in miracles,” she said. “To me, that’s a miracle. When somebody who goes from all the way over here has an epiphany and says, ‘They stopped me from doing what I wanted to do. But, moreover, they’re stopping my constituents and I don’t like it.’”

But Joy Behar was not so sure with her co-hosts’ assessment of the controversial Georgia state representative.

“You give her too much credit,” Behar told her co-hosts. She reminded them that Greene is an “ambitious” politician. “Let’s not forget, Santa is bringing the Epstein files this week and everybody’s weakened in the Republican Party right now. They’re not gonna win, she knows it. She wants to run for something else.”

Behar then added, “I’m happy to have her on our side now,” which Goldberg corrected. “I don’t know if she’s on our side,” Goldberg replied, later adding, “Something woke her up and I’m happy it did.”

Greene recently shocked the hosts of The View during a recent visit where they came to realize they share more in common than they thought. But Greene staunchly denied that she was on the left now, despite her criticisms of the right and the Republican party.

“I’m sitting here just stumped, because you are a very different person than I thought you were,” Hostin told her at the time. “I feel like I’m sitting next to a completely different Marjorie Taylor Greene. Why the change? Why the evolution? You’ve gone so far right, you’re on the left now.”

Greene quickly set the record straight and told Hostin that she’s “not on the left,” adding, “All of this two-party fighting, you guys are all victims of the political industrial complex… but it’s not gonna solve our problems in this country.”
