ORLANDO, Fla. – Brace yourselves, Central Florida, as two popular water parks are shutting their gates this week due to an unexpected cold spell.
Universal Orlando Resort took to social media to announce that Volcano Bay will be closed on Tuesday as was previously planned.
However, the park’s closure will extend into Wednesday, as chilly weather continues to grip the region.
In a similar move, Disney has indicated that Typhoon Lagoon will close its doors starting December 30, remaining shut through January 1, as temperatures are expected to drop significantly.

The strong cold front is expected to arrive in the region by Monday evening, with beach conditions deteriorating as winds kick up.
Temperatures are forecast to drop sharply late in the evening, and neighborhoods northwest of I-4 may feel the chill early, with temperatures in these areas possibly dipping into the upper 30s.
Meanwhile, many inland areas will fall into the low-to-mid-40s, with 50s closer to the coast.
