- Regina Daniels and her brother, Sweezzy, have fueled speculation of a family rift after unfollowing each other on Instagram amid her escalating marital crisis with Senator Ned Nwoko.
- The development comes against the backdrop of legal battles, the arrest and release of her brother Sammy West, and a bitter custody dispute over Regina’s children
Recent developments in the Daniels family drama have captured public attention as Nollywood star Regina Daniels and her brother Sweezzy, who resides in the UK, have ignited speculation of a family rift by unfollowing each other on Instagram. This social media split unfolds amid a challenging time for the Daniels family, as Regina navigates her high-profile separation from her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
Tensions further escalated when reports emerged that Regina’s other brother, Sammy West, who was recently released on a ₦5 million bail, also hit the unfollow button on Sweezzy’s profile.
These social media actions seem to mirror the family’s internal strife, which is closely linked to the ongoing legal battle between Regina and Senator Nwoko.
The Arrest: In November 2025, Sammy West found himself in legal trouble following accusations from Ned Nwoko. The Senator’s petition led to his arrest, claiming charges of criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, and cyberbullying.
The Allegations: Regina has publicly denounced these charges as a strategic maneuver by Senator Nwoko, describing it as an attempt to exert pressure on her amidst their marital discord.
The Release: While Sweezzy and their mother, Rita Daniels, were vocal in celebrating Sammy’s release on November 10, the subsequent “unfollowing” suggests that internal disagreements may have surfaced regarding how the family is handling the crisis.
The split between the actress and the billionaire politician has turned increasingly bitter. Regina recently cried out over being separated from her two sons, Munir and Khalifa, alleging that Nwoko dismissed her staff to cut off her access.
“The last time I spoke to my kids was mid-November… Ned dismissed all my nannies, pressured them into making false statements accusing me of violence and alcohol abuse… and has since filed for full custody.”
In response, Senator Nwoko’s legal team released a statement claiming that a court ruling has granted him custody, citing Regina’s “emotional health” as a concern.
“The ruling was resolved in favour of Senator Ned Nwoko, with clear directions that Regina Daniels must undergo drug rehabilitation and be assessed by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before access can be restored.”
