This weekend’s NFL action has positioned the Giants and the Jets in the second and third spots for the 2026 draft, with each having one remaining game to play this Sunday as both teams are out of playoff contention.
The last instance both New York teams held top-three picks was back in 2018. That year, they selected Saquon Barkley, now with the Eagles, and Sam Darnold, currently leading the Seahawks as quarterback.
Still too soon?
With playoff hopes dashed weeks ago, the focus for both teams has shifted to the forthcoming draft. Meanwhile, the Giants face crucial decisions regarding the future of GM Joe Schoen and finding a successor for the dismissed head coach Brian Daboll. Speculation about potential candidates was curbed Monday when news confirmed Marcus Freeman will remain at Notre Dame under a revised contract.
