Sophia Momodu, known as the mother of Afrobeat icon Davido’s child, has repeatedly addressed her fans, urging them to cease associating her with the musician as she has clearly moved forward with her life.
In a recent live interaction, Sophia shared an experience where she was recognized by a content creator who enthusiastically exclaimed, “Mama Imade, OBO’s wife,” referring to her relationship with Davido. Sophia expressed her discomfort with the situation.
“A content creator spotted me and excitedly shouted, ‘Mama Imade, OBO’s wife.’ My reaction was, ‘Where? I didn’t see oo. You’ve mistaken me for someone else,'” she recounted.
Emphasizing the need for respect, Sophia called for an end to such associations, asking people to honor personal boundaries and decisions.
“Let’s refrain from this. It’s important to respect boundaries and personal choices. When someone has moved on, let them. Everyone deserves peace,” she concluded.
Her comments have sparked conversations online about respect, boundaries, and identity, especially for women who are constantly defined by their past relationships.
Many reactions followed. One commentator wrote, “People should let this woman be, allow her live her life.” Another said, “This looks like the opposite; you’re indirectly saying you miss him.”
Davido, meanwhile, is married to his longtime lover, Chioma Rowland, and the couple have twins together.
Sophia Momodu’s message is simple and firm — she wants peace, respect, and the freedom to exist without being tied to a past relationship.
