A father and his teenage son from Texas have been arrested in connection to the murder of a man discovered in a vehicle engulfed in flames early last week.
Authorities in Harris County received an alert about a car fire around 4 a.m. on Thursday. Upon extinguishing the blaze, they found a man’s body in the back seat, as reported by KRIV. The victim, who had been shot, was identified by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez as 25-year-old Juan Francisco Benitez.
The investigation soon led to the arrest of 44-year-old Ernesto Bustamante, charged with murder and tampering with evidence. According to the police, the incident occurred at Bustamante’s residence, where a heated argument erupted, culminating in the fatal shooting.
Bustamante reportedly transported the victim’s body in a truck to a secluded area, where he then set the vehicle on fire.
Subsequently, authorities also apprehended Bustamante’s son, Santiago Bustamante. He faces charges of tampering with evidence related to a human corpse, as detailed by KHOU.
