The holiday season took a disastrous turn for one homeowner when a mudslide wreaked havoc on her property in Southern California. The incident occurred during last week’s intense Christmas storm that swept through the region.

Misty Cheng’s retreat in Wrightwood became a casualty of the storm, as captured in dramatic footage that reveals debris and mud stacked several feet high after torrents of water surged through the area.

“The mud was literally taller than myself,” Cheng recounted to ABC7, describing the overwhelming destruction left in the storm’s wake.

“I just broke down in tears because it is devastating to see and to see my neighbors also suffering the same,” she added, expressing the emotional toll of witnessing such widespread destruction.

“I just broke down in tears because it is devastating to see and to see my neighbors also suffering the same.”

Describing the ordeal as her very own “Nightmare before Christmas,” Cheng said she spent two days trying to clean up the thick sludge with the help of volunteers — making little progress.

“It was imperative that everything be fixed immediately before it hardened,” Cheng said.

Dozens of homes in the neighborhood were left severely damaged after the powerful storm swept across SoCal on Christmas Day, bringing flash floods and mudslides.

Disturbing video captured debris cascading down a road in Wrightwood — a mountain resort town in the San Gabriel Mountains — as the storm wreaked havoc and buried cars up to their windows in mud.

Other clips showed fast-moving water rushing through the front porches of several homes.

The storms brought the wettest Christmas season to Los Angeles in a staggering 54 years, the National Weather Service said.
