One Nation leader Pauline Hanson will end 2025 on a relative high, with new polling showing her likeability rating has surged in the past year.

The Queensland senator, although still ranking low among federal politicians in terms of likeability, is experiencing a notable upswing in popularity, aligning with an increase in primary support for her party this year. This marks one of the most favorable periods in her career.

Hanson also recorded the second-highest “familiarity” score of 93 per cent, behind only Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at 97 per cent.
Her newest follower, New England MP Barnaby Joyce, also saw his popularity rocket by 18 points – though he still remains one of just two politicians surveyed with a net unlikeable rating, having shifted from -22 to -4.

Albanese, who enjoyed a likeability score of +9—an improvement from a -17 rating at the end of 2024—had these numbers recorded prior to the Bondi Beach terror attack on December 14, as noted by pollsters.

Following the attack, Albanese faced criticism from political adversaries and the public, including families of the victims. His administration has been under fire for allegedly failing to adequately address rising antisemitism within Australia.

A subsequent, smaller Resolve poll, conducted after the event and bearing a higher margin of error, indicated a decline in Albanese’s likeability from +9 to -5. Meanwhile, opposition leader Sussan Ley’s score shifted from +8 before the attack to +1 afterward.

The pre-attack poll showed Tasmanian Senator Jacqui Lambie retain her crown as Australia’s most-liked politician with a rating of +15, though she was joined by fellow Independent David Pocock.

Among government officials, Dr. Anne Aly, Minister for Small Business, stood out as the most favored, securing a +12 rating. She was closely followed by Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Catherine King, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, and Local Government, both receiving a +11 rating.

Goldstein MP Tim Wilson is the most-liked member of the opposition, also on +11.

Aside from Joyce, the only surveyed politician to earn a net disliked rating was independent Senator Lidia Thorpe, at -12.
