Take a breather today, readers, because tomorrow ushers in the start of 2026—a year that brings us headlong into the midterm election season.

Yesterday, I delved into the Democratic Party’s agenda for 2026, dubbing it their predictable “routine.” (For those interested, it’s a VIP article, and if you’re not yet a VIP, check the bottom of this piece for a 74% discount on membership!)

As we ring in the new year, Democrats, led by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, plan to revisit the events of January 6th. Jeffries is urging his colleagues to observe the fifth anniversary by addressing what he describes as “ongoing threats to free and fair elections posed by an unrestrained Trump administration.” The Democrats aim to criticize the Trump administration’s measures to reduce violence in Democratic-led cities, portraying these efforts as voter suppression tactics.

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

Additionally, the Democrats intend to scrutinize the Trump administration’s motives for urging states to update their voter rolls before the 2026 elections. David Becker, a former Justice Department voting rights attorney and current executive director of the Center for Election Innovation & Research, is already raising alarms. He argues, “They’re attempting to misuse executive power to pressure states into handing over highly sensitive information—like birth dates, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license info, which are prime targets for identity theft—to the DOJ for unspecified purposes.”

The left also will try to polish that “election interference” turd by calling into question the motive behind the administration’s insistence that states clean up their voter rolls ahead of the 2026 elections. David Becker, a former Justice Department voting rights attorney and executive director of the Center for Election Innovation & Research, is getting a jumpstart on the scare mongering, saying, “They’re trying to use the power of the executive to bully states into turning over highly sensitive data — date of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license, the Holy Trinity of identity theft — hand it over to the DOJ for who knows what use.”
