Porsche, the esteemed German automaker, has announced a recall affecting approximately 173,538 of its vehicles due to a malfunctioning rearview camera. This issue may cause the rearview image to fail to display correctly when the car is in reverse, thereby compromising the driver’s visibility and elevating the risk of an accident.
The recall was officially issued on December 19, 2025, but the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has informed that notifications will begin reaching affected vehicle owners by February 16.
To address the problem, Porsche will provide a complimentary software update to correct the camera display malfunction. Impacted owners will receive detailed information on when and how the fix will be offered. Initially, a notification letter will be mailed on February 16, followed by another communication once the software remedy becomes available.
The rearview image may not display as intended when in reverse and “reduces the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash,” according to the recall.Â

- Cayenne, 2019-2025

- Panamera, 2024-2025

- Taycan, 2020-2025
Dealers will offer a software update free of charge to fix the issue when it’s available. Notifications will be mailed to impacted owners Feb. 16 and another letter will be sent once the fix is available for their cars.Â

Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 19, 2026.
