In 2025, the United States experienced a significant surge in measles cases, surpassing 2,000 for the first time in over three decades.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that by December 30, the nation had confirmed 2,065 measles cases. Notably, 93% of these cases involved individuals who were either unvaccinated or whose vaccination status was unknown.

This marks a dramatic increase from 2024, when only 285 cases were recorded. The last instance of such high numbers was back in 1992.
