In a heartfelt moment on Fox News, contributor Leslie Marshall opened up about experiencing 11 miscarriages, receiving comforting support from her colleagues during the live broadcast.
On Thursday’s episode of Outnumbered, Marshall shared her personal story after contributor Joe Concha commended the late Charlie Kirk for encouraging young people to focus on family life.
Regular panelist Tomi Lahren directed a question to Marshall, asking whether liberals could learn anything from someone like Charlie Kirk.
Marshall, who is a mother of two, replied, “I think it’s wonderful for young people, regardless of political stance, to engage in politics and participate in their communities, especially at a time when so many are absorbed in social media.”
She continued, “I want my children to be exposed to all perspectives and make their own informed decisions. They can’t do that if they’re only hearing a biased viewpoint, whether it’s mine or another’s,” before addressing Concha.
She calmly told him: ‘I understand marriage and family is important to a lot of people, but I know people that would love to get married just haven’t met the right person or the guy hasn’t asked yet.’
Marshall, 53, went on: ‘I suffered 11 miscarriages and I have two children, one after adoption, one after 13 IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) cycles, and I have a son who died.
‘So I just say that because I know that when people say you know get married and have children, it’s not as easy for everybody.
Fox News contributor Leslie Marshall revealed on the air Thursday that she has suffered 11 miscarriages throughout her life
The panel on Thursday’s Outnumbered had been discussing the late Charlie Kirk and his advice to young people to keep having children
‘There are a lot of women that struggle with infertility, and just because a woman doesn’t have a child, left or right, it doesn’t mean that they don’t want a child. Maybe they actually can’t have.’
Concha, the sole male panelist, quickly apologized, clarifying that Kirk had championed the pursuit of any form of family.
Marshall assured him that she was not offended, noting, ‘I’m just saying – for some people, [getting pregnant] is not number one or number two, Because they are afraid – you know what I mean?
‘Some of my friends saw what I went through and thought, “Maybe I don’t want to go down that road.”‘
Fox News Political Analyst Lisa Boothe told the contributor: ‘I hear what you’re saying, Leslie – I’m so sorry that you went through that. I’ve had friends who have gone through miscarriages. It is heartbreaking. I’m so sorry you went through that.
‘I think he was just encouraging a different reflection point and what society is telling us,’ she said of Kirk.
The conversation went on from there, with Marshall staying composed.
