Central Illinois politicians weigh in on attack, arrests carried out in Venezuela

ILLINOIS (WCIA) — In the wake of a military strike on Venezuela and the subsequent arrest of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, early Saturday morning, several politicians from Central Illinois have shared their reactions to these controversial actions.

Following the military intervention and arrests, President Donald Trump addressed the nation from his Mar-a-Lago resort. He announced that the United States would oversee Venezuela’s governance until a new leadership transition is in place. Additionally, Trump stated that the U.S. would assume control of Venezuela’s oil production during this period.
