Tiger Woods and his former wife, Elin Nordegren, came together to cheer on their son, Charlie, as he kicked off 2026 by participating in the Junior Orange Bowl held in Florida over the weekend.
At just 16, Charlie faced a challenging round, finishing with a score of two-over par at Miami’s Biltmore Course. However, the score wasn’t his main concern, as he narrowly avoided a serious injury during the game.
In a tense moment at the 11th hole, Charlie’s recovery shot struck a hidden root, causing the ball to ricochet back towards him, as reported by GolfMagic.
Charlie quickly ducked and shielded his face, narrowly missing being hit, which elicited gasps from the onlookers. Fortunately, the incident ended without injury, and Charlie was unharmed.
Remarkably, the young golfer turned the situation around, transforming a potential mishap into a highlight by managing to save par on the hole.
‘Hell of a shot,’ Tiger was heard saying to his son as he walked off the green. The golf great was seen walking the course alongside his ex-wife as they watched Charlie competing.

Woods, who turned 50 on December 30, and Nordegren have developed a friendship for the good of their children following their angry divorce in 2010 following the shocking emergence of the golfer’s long list of infidelities.
Woods first met Swedish model Nordegren in 2001, before proposing two years later. The couple then made it official at a lavish wedding in 2004.
They welcomed daughter Sam in 2007 and son Charlie in 2009, a year prior to the infamous sex scandal that brought their marriage crashing down in shocking fashion.
Elin divorced Tiger in 2010 after six years of marriage when she discovered the golfing great was cheating on her during Thanksgiving week with a woman named Rachel Uchitel.
Nordegren first discovered Woods was cheating in November 2009, during Thanksgiving week. Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree outside the Florida mansion he shared with her, two days after a National Enquirer report claimed Woods was having an affair with a woman named Rachel Uchitel.
In the aftermath of the crash – where Woods was found by police asleep in the road without shoes and socks on, as per USA Today, while Nordegren tried to smash her way into the car with a golf club – multiple women came forward to claim they too had been involved with the golfer.
What followed was one of the most dramatic collapses of a star’s reputation across sport. Not only did it cost Woods his marriage, but he also lost numerous lucrative sponsorship deals – even though Nike stood by him – and he went to rehab for sex addiction during a break from playing golf.
‘[I was in] absolute shock and disbelief,’ Nordgren told PEOPLE about her divorce from Woods. ‘I felt stupid as more things were revealed — how could I not have known anything? The word betrayal isn’t strong enough.

Woods said he and Nordegren are friends and co-parent well together for their kids
‘I felt like my whole world had fallen apart. It seemed that my world as I thought it was had never existed. I felt embarrassed for having been so deceived. I felt betrayed by many people around me.’
But since then, they have rebuilt their relationship as co-parents and friends. |
Talking to TIME magazine in 2015, Woods said: ‘Having the relationship that I have now with her is fantastic. She’s one of my best friends.
‘We’re able to pick up the phone, and we talk to each other all the time. We both know that the most important things in our lives are our kids.’
Woods, who is now dating Vanessa Trump, Donald Trump’s former daughter-in-law, is still on the comeback trail as he fights to keep his own golf career alive.
He tore his Achilles in March 2025 and had another back prodecure in October last year.
Speaking at the Hero World Challenge in December, where he is tournament host, Woods said: ‘It’s been a tough year.’
He said his recovery was ‘not as fast as I’d like it to be.’Â
