Travis Kelce is present and accounted for as the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to wrap up their disappointing season against the Las Vegas Raiders. This matchup could mark the final game in the esteemed NFL career of the star tight end.
For the first time since 2012, the Chiefs will be sitting out the playoffs, a reality cemented by their Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. This defeat extinguished any remaining hopes for postseason play.
While quarterback Patrick Mahomes is already setting his sights on the upcoming season, Kelce finds himself contemplating a different future. At 36, he is once again considering retirement, a decision he previously mulled over after last year’s Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Initially, Kelce chose to return and play another season, unwilling to conclude his career on such a disappointing note. However, with the Chiefs’ playoff aspirations dashed in mid-December, he’s facing the retirement dilemma once more, less than a year later.
Yet after being eliminated from playoff contention in mid-December, he has been left to ponder the same difficult question just 10 months later.
As he continues to mull over his future, Kelce arrived at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas on Sunday ahead of what could prove his final game in the NFL.

Kelce is currently weighing up whether to bring the curtain down on his legendary NFL career
He made his way into the stadium wearing black sunglasses, a casual black cardigan, matching sweat pants and boots, a khaki T-shirt and a matching Louis Vuitton hold-all.
It remains to be seen whether fiancee Taylor Swift, who may not get another chance to watch him in action on the field, attends her beau’s potential Chiefs farewell.
Kelce has spent his entire career with Kansas City after being drafted in 2013, winning three Super Bowls and establishing himself as one of the best tight ends in the history of the game.
The Chiefs legend has enjoyed an impressive individual season with 839 yards to his name and five touchdowns, even while the team has imploded and failed to make the playoffs.
But with his contract up at the end of the season, many believe he won’t be signing a new one.
Instead, many expect Kelce will use that as the time to bring the curtain down on his career and ride off into the sunset with Swift ahead of their wedding this summer.
The pair are reportedly set to tie the knot on June 13 at the luxurious Ocean House in Rhode Island, close to the pop megastar’s property in the north-east of America.
Perhaps Swift will give the clearest indication yet of her future husband’s plans this weekend.

Kelce is coming off one of his worst seasons with the Chiefs after failing to make the playoffs
Given she hasn’t been to a road game since the Chiefs won in the playoffs at Buffalo Bills in January 2024, if the songstress has made the trip for a dead rubber game in Las Vegas, it would surely only be because it is the last time Kelce will be on the field.
The latter has kept his cards close to his chest about what the future holds, insisting he will reach a decision once the season is over and he has had time to hold talks with Chiefs, as well as his friends and family.
In an emotionally-charged interview with fellow franchise legend Tony Gonzalez on Christmas Day, Kelce spoke out on the retirement rumors.
‘I think I’m still searching for those answers,’ Kelce said when pressed on his looming decision.
‘Obviously the way this one ended with a sour taste in my mouth. I feel motivated but I’ve got to make the right decision for myself.’
However, the three-time Super Bowl winner didn’t fully close the door on the possibility of returning for one more season.
‘Just the fact that when I know it’s over, it’s over,’ he added when Gonzalez questioned what he would be returning for.
‘I still have a lot of love for this game. If I came back it would be just to answer that flame in my heart for this thing.’
