In the midst of a standstill in exports, Venezuela’s national oil enterprise, PDVSA, has requested several joint ventures to reduce crude production. This involves shutting down certain oilfields or clusters of wells, according to insights from three individuals familiar with the matter shared with Reuters.
Once heralded as one of Latin America’s wealthiest countries, Venezuela has experienced a severe economic downturn under Maduro’s administration. This has prompted a massive migration, with roughly 20% of the population seeking a future abroad in what has become a major global exodus.
“Today, we’ll operate until midday since we are situated near numerous residential areas. With limited access to food, it’s crucial for us to support the community,” a local shop owner explained.
The strategies Donald Trump might employ concerning Venezuela remain uncertain, posing a potential risk of disenfranchising certain supporters who disapprove of international interventions.
It is unclear how Trump plans to oversee Venezuela and he runs the risk of alienating some supporters who oppose foreign interventions.
