CHARLESTON, Ill. — Authorities in Charleston are currently probing a stabbing incident that occurred in close proximity to Eastern Illinois University, the Charleston Police Department confirmed.

In a statement shared on Facebook Sunday morning, officials reported that the altercation happened near the 1100 block of 6th Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered an individual who was in urgent need of medical assistance. The victim was quickly transported to the hospital as emergency responders provided critical care en route.
