A man has been charged after injured police officers had to scramble for safety as their van was allegedly rammed in a Melbourne driveway last month.
Police were called to a unit complex in Mornington on December 12 at 7.40pm after reports a man was loitering suspiciously.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a black Toyota Land Cruiser, reportedly stolen, parked in the property’s driveway.

Authorities claim the vehicle rammed into the stationary police car several times before becoming stuck in the driveway.

The driver allegedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot heading north along Fleet Street.

Two senior constables sustained minor injuries and sought medical treatment the next day.

Both the police car and the property sustained substantial damage as a result of the incident.

The police car and the property were left with significant damage.

The man was arrested after police received a report of a man passed out in a suspicious vehicle in Hallam on January 4.

The man woke up and allegedly attempted to evade police, mounting a curb and crashing into a bin.

The man exited the vehicle from the passenger door and ran before he allegedly attempted to carjack a passing vehicle unsuccessfully and ran into bushland.

Police and the dog squad tracked the man and found him hiding in the bush.

The 35-year-old man has since been charged with an array of offences including robbery, four counts of theft of a motor vehicle, eight counts of burglary, five counts of attempted burglary and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.

He was also charged with theft from a motor vehicle, two counts of assaulting police, two counts of reckless conduct causing serious injury, two counts of reckless conduct endangering life, driving in a dangerous manner, damaging an emergency vehicle, criminal damage, unlicensed driving and failing to appear on bail.

He is due to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
