ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – In a tragic case of reckless driving, a man has been found guilty of vehicular manslaughter after a high-speed collision on State Road 408 in November 2021. The incident, which saw the perpetrator driving at a staggering 150 mph, resulted in the death of another motorist and is now heading toward sentencing.

The convicted individual, Omaykan Guler, was apprehended in November 2025 for his involvement in the crash that occurred on November 8, 2021. This catastrophic event led to the closure of SR-408 near South Crystal Lake Drive for over eight hours, disrupting traffic and causing significant delays.

According to reports from the Orlando police, Guler was behind the wheel of a white Porsche when he violently rear-ended a blue Chevrolet pickup truck. This collision claimed the life of 57-year-old John Richardson. Furthermore, the aftermath of the crash was not confined to just these vehicles; debris injured a silver Dodge SUV and a white Volvo semi-truck, as detailed in official records.

Eyewitness accounts, as noted in the police report, suggest that the Porsche was moving at a minimum of 120 mph at the time of the accident. Detailed investigations have since determined that the pickup truck was traveling at approximately 59 mph when it was struck by Guler’s vehicle, which was confirmed to be racing at 150 mph.

One of the drivers involved in the crash told police he believed the Porsche was traveling at least 120 mph, according to a police report. The investigation revealed the pickup was likely traveling at 59 mph before being hit from behind by the Porsche, which was traveling at 150 mph, the report shows.

Guler claimed he slammed into the back of the pickup truck because it was stopped in the roadway, which police say did not line up with other witness statements, according to the report.

He told police after the crash, “it happened so fast” and “I have no (expletive) idea how fast I was going” before saying he was driving between 55-60 mph and did not see the other car, the report said.

Guler will be sentenced on Monday at 2 p.m.
