MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Just days after being released from jail, a man found himself back in custody on Saturday in Marion County, following an armed robbery at a Dollar General store.

Authorities from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident at approximately 7:30 p.m. at the Dollar General located at 15090 S. U.S. Highway 441 in Summerfield. Witnesses reported that a masked man, brandishing a firearm, stormed into the store, demanding money and threatening the lives of everyone present. The employees complied, handing over a bag full of cash, after which the suspect fled the scene, as per the sheriff’s office.

In a news release, deputies shared that a suspect matching the description was soon spotted. After a swift pursuit, they apprehended the individual, identified as 38-year-old Dexter Rayonne Jackson, in the vicinity of SE 91st Court Road. Jackson was still wearing the ski mask when captured, and deputies discovered the stolen cash and firearm close by.

Jackson is now in custody at the Marion County Jail, held without bond. He faces multiple charges, including robbery with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and resisting arrest without violence.

The sheriff’s office revealed that Jackson has an extensive criminal record. Back in 2015, he was arrested in Palm Beach County on charges such as grand theft auto, false imprisonment, and attempted robbery, leading to a conviction in 2017. He was released from prison on November 12, 2025.

Deputies said Jackson was then arrested again on Dec. 20, 2025, on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, driving while license suspended or revoked and possession of a controlled substance. His bond on those charges was set at $15,500, which he posted before the Jan. 4 robbery.
