Speaking from the flood-affected town of Cloncurry in Queensland‘s north-west, Albanese did not unequivocally rule out establishing a royal commission, but did not confirm that discussions were underway.

In a concerted effort to address pressing concerns, authorities are actively collaborating with Jewish communities to ensure their needs are met. “We’re continuing to examine everything else that is required, working with the community,” stated a key official involved in the initiative.

Engagement with Jewish leaders remains a top priority, as direct conversations and meetings are held daily to explore all possible measures. “I continue to be engaged with leaders in the Jewish community,” the official emphasized. “What we need to do is to promote unity at this time, and that is my focus.”

Further underscoring the seriousness of the matter, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has commissioned a comprehensive review of the nation’s intelligence and law enforcement agencies. This review will be spearheaded by Dennis Richardson, the former director-general of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO).

Albanese highlighted that the “priority one” for the Richardson review is to address immediate needs, reflecting the urgency and importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of the community during these times.

He said “priority one” is the immediate needs of the Richardson review.

Albanese said the second priority will be recalling parliament once the required legislation is obtained.
“To take strong action against hate speech (and) to strengthen the laws that we have put in place.”

“We’re continuing to examine everything else that is required.”

Albanese has faced calls from some politicans from all parties, as well as community groups, to hold hold a public inquiry.
