Mickey Rourke denies any involvement with ‘humiliating’ $100K GoFundMe as he faces eviction

Mickey Rourke has publicly denied any involvement with a GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $100,000 purportedly to prevent his eviction. The actor, expressing his confusion and frustration, addressed the situation in a video posted on Instagram this past Monday.

The 73-year-old actor firmly stated, “That’s not me, OK?” dismissing the notion that he was behind the fundraising effort. Rourke went on to explain that he “wouldn’t know what a GoFund[Me] foundation is in a million years,” underscoring his unfamiliarity with the platform.

Rourke expressed strong sentiments against seeking financial help, stating, “If I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no f–king charity. I’d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger.” His statement highlighted not only his disapproval of the campaign but also his commitment to maintaining a simple lifestyle without external financial assistance.

Reinforcing his point, Rourke emphasized that it is not in his nature to “ask strangers or fans or anybody for a nickel,” citing his pride as a barrier to such actions. The actor made it clear that seeking help from others is not in line with his personal values.

Rourke doubled down on it not being his “style” to “ask strangers or fans or anybody for a nickel” because he has “too much pride.”

He urged fans who donated to the fundraiser to “get [their] money back.”

As for “whoever did this,” the “Celebrity Big Brother” alum speculated, “There’s only one person I can think of that would do such a thing, and I hope it’s not the person I’m thinking about. It’s humiliating. … But I’m sure I’ll get over it like anything else.”

The fundraiser, notably, was allegedly created with Rourke’s “full permission” by Liya-Joelle Jones, a woman claiming to be his manager Kimberly Hines’ assistant.

Hines is listed as the beneficiary.

Page Six has reached out to Jones, Hines and GoFundMe for comment but have yet to hear back.

Elsewhere in Rourke’s social media upload, he addressed his financial woes in the wake of reports he owes nearly $60,000 in back rent.

“I wasn’t diplomatic,” the “Sin City” star said of the “really terrible job” he has done managing his career.

“I had to go to over 20 years of therapy to get over the damage that was done to me years ago,” he told his followers. “I worked very hard to work through that. I’m not that person anymore.”

The ex-professional boxer, who we hear is currently staying at a luxury West Hollywood hotel costing at least $550 a night, did cop to recently borrowing money “from a great friend”

Daily Mail reported over the weekend that Rourke is “rich poor” and lives “paycheck-to-paycheck.”

A source explained to the outlet, “He spends … so fast that he is at square one right around the time that he starts making money.”
