Nick Reiner, facing charges in the tragic double homicide of his renowned parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is no longer on suicide watch, according to recent reports.

The 32-year-old, accused of two counts of first-degree murder following the December 14 incident, is currently held in solitary confinement at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility. This update comes from a source within the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, as reported by People magazine on Monday.

Nick Reiner is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment this Wednesday at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Stanley Mosk Courthouse.

After his arrest in the early hours of December 15, Reiner was initially placed in a special smock designed to prevent self-harm and has remained in that attire until recently.

Authorities have now confirmed that Reiner has transitioned to the standard prison attire, comprising a yellow shirt and blue pants, which is the typical uniform for inmates at the Downtown Los Angeles facility.

Nick will remain in High Observation Housing pending a court order mandating otherwise, and he will be observed and kept isolated at all times, officials told the publication.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Nick’s attorney Alan Jackson for comment on the new development. 

Following his arrest, a law enforcement insider confirmed to the Daily Mail that Nick was ‘under supervision of the jail mental evaluation team’ at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility.

Nick had been housed in the area for inmates who have ‘suicidal ideation,’ the insider said.   

Nick has been charged with two first-degree murder counts in connection with the December 14 deaths of his parents Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, at their home in Brentwood, California.

The charges include a special allegation involving the use of a knife in the slayings.

Rob and Michele’s daughter, Romy Reiner, 29, discovered the body of her father after a massage therapist slated to work at the house was unable to enter, per the New York Times.

First responders subsequently found Michelle’s body and told Romy the tragic news.

Nick had been candid in the past about his issues with substance abuse, which led to bouts of homelessness and repeated rehab stints.

Rob Reiner told the AP in a 2016 interview that making the motion picture with Nick ‘forced us to understand ourselves better than we had.’

The filmmaker added, ‘I told Nick while we were making it, I said, “You know it doesn’t matter, whatever happens to this thing, we won already. This has already been good.” We’ve worked through a lot of stuff.’

Nick told People in a 2016 interview — when he was 22 years old — that he had been to rehab on 17 occasions at that time.

Nick said that his family had confronted him with an ultimatum on multiple occasions, requiring him to go to rehab or hit the streets, and at times, he chose the latter option.

‘If I wanted to do it my way and not go to the programs they were suggesting, then I had to be homeless,’ Nick said. ‘I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.’

Nick said that he had been homeless across the US, including stints in Texas, New Jersey and Maine.
