TNT Sports under fire again

TNT Sports has come under fire for its Ashes series coverage, with viewers recently witnessing an unusual commentary incident just before Ben Stokes’ dismissal.

In an unexpected move, the network abruptly replayed Jamie Smith’s run out after Stokes had faced only three balls.

Commentator Rob Hatch mistakenly believed he was witnessing a live moment and announced the run out as if Stokes were the player being dismissed instead of Smith.

“It’s happening again, it’s happening again! Stokes goes, two run outs in two overs, England are imploding!” Hatch exclaimed, unaware of the replay.

It wasn’t until a brief pause later that Hatch realized he had been commenting on a replay, not a live event.

Hatch then added: ‘Well, thankfully someone’s looking out the window of the box, and it’s Alaister Cook!’

Alastair Cook made light of the situation: ‘It was just a replay, nightmares can happen!

‘Good news for people who are waking up, they are six wickets down,’ Cook added. ‘Rob was giving them seven, but we’ll forgive ya, we’re not used to four days. If you were dozing you’ve woken up now rob. Stokes is still there, it’s fine!’

But Stokes wasn’t there for much longer, with the England skipper being removed on the next ball, edging a delivery from Beau Webster out to Steve Smith.
