Which Netflix Shows Are Not Expected to Return Until 2027? Delays Explained

Netflix has unveiled its lineup of television series for 2026, but some fan favorites are conspicuously absent.

On Wednesday, January 7, the streaming giant shared which shows will debut later in the year. Among them, the concluding seasons of Outer Banks and The Witcher were confirmed, alongside the return of popular titles like Bridgerton, One Piece, and Beef.

However, viewers may notice the absence of widely-loved series such as Wednesday and Ginny & Georgia. Additionally, shows like Ransom Canyon, Untamed, and Forever are missing from the roster, along with the talk show Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney.

Several international productions are also in limbo, with no release dates announced for Supacell, Dept. Q, Bet, Geek Girl, and Heartbreak High. While it seems these projects might not premiere until at least 2027, there’s a possibility Netflix will unveil additional premiere dates as the year progresses.

Winter Preview

This winter’s TV lineup is brimming with eagerly awaited debuts and returning favorites, including Marshals, Bridgerton, and Best Medicine. Based on Julia Quinn’s acclaimed novels, each season of Bridgerton delves into the romantic exploits of a different family member as they navigate love in 19th-century London. The beloved series continues to captivate audiences on Netflix.

Ransom Canyon‘s absence from the list comes after it was confirmed that Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner, who played father and son Davis and Reid, respectively, will not be returning as series regulars for season 2. It is unclear whether they could return in a guest-star capacity.

Based on Jodi Thomas‘ book series about a town that is full of drama, romance and hope, Ransom Canyon, which premiered in April 2025, introduced Us to the locals in Texas Hill Country.

Season 2, which has already wrapped production, will feature Steve Howey in a recurring guest star role as Staten’s (Josh Duhamel) half brother, Levi. According to multiple outlets, the character is described as “a mountain man of sorts who lives off the land.”

Ben Robson and Heidi Engerman were also added to the cast as recurring guest stars and are expected to appear in multiple episodes as filming continues in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Ginny & Georgia, meanwhile, aired in summer 2025 to record-breaking ratings. While the show is currently filming season 4, star Brianne Howey recently teased exclusively to Us Weekly what fans can expect.

2026 is a big year for TV — but which shows do we definitely know are coming back for more seasons? Paramount+ surprised viewers by renewing Landman for a third season before season 2 came to an end. Inspired by the “Boomtown” podcast series, Landman is focused on the West Texas oil industry with a […]

“The ending for season 3, I was pretty shocked. [Now] reading every episode, the writers blow me away. I’m so grateful to be part of this incredible storytelling,” Howey shared in November 2025 about where the story goes after Georgia’s surprise pregnancy. “The ending for season 3 couldn’t set us up more perfectly for where season 4 is.”

Howey said she had high hopes for her character.

“Georgia probably needs to mend her soul a little bit after 3. So those were my hopes [for season 4],” she teased. “In a dream world, I would like Georgia to be on the right side of history with her children. I really want her to do right by them, rectify as much as possible and show that it’s possible to change.”

Howey continued: “It’s a dream come true [working on the show]. I’ve never been in the position of getting to be a part of a season 4 before. It’s an enormous privilege and it’s not something that we take lightly. I think I can speak for the whole cast when I say when we see those [viewership numbers] come out, it motivates us to ensure that our next season is also hitting all of the same spots and is as fulfilling. So everyone’s working really hard and is so excited and really kind of just riding the high from the positive feedback.”
