A woman, previously convicted in connection with the tragic discovery of her boyfriend’s 9-year-old daughter encased in a tote within a Kentucky storage unit, has been transferred to Indiana to confront additional charges.

Chyanne Porter had admitted to charges of corpse abuse, tampering with evidence, and multiple counts of child abuse involving minors under the age of 12 in Daviess County, Kentucky. This followed the grim finding of Alianna Maya Gomez-Alvarez’s remains in an Owensboro storage facility back in 2022, as detailed by Owensboro Times.

Alianna’s father, Jose Gomez-Alvarez, also pleaded guilty to similar charges of corpse abuse and tampering with evidence. He had been extradited to Indiana to face related charges earlier in April.

According to CrimeOnline, the arrests of Porter and Gomez-Alvarez occurred in October 2022, following a missing persons investigation that led authorities to the storage unit owned by Porter.

Investigations revealed that the young girl had died at their residence in Evansville, Indiana. Her siblings reported experiencing abuse from both their father, Gomez-Alvarez, and his girlfriend, Porter. Sadly, they recounted how the 9-year-old suffered convulsions before passing away, as reported by the Owensboro Times.

“When Porter returned home, she bound [the 9-year-old’s] body in wrapping and placed the body in a plastic tub with the bodies of other dead cats and dogs,” an affidavit said. “She then closed the lid and secured the lid with duct tape. At some point thereafter, the tub was then stored at a storage unit in Owensboro by Days Inn.”

The affidavit said that Porter and Gomez-Alvarez regularly abused his three children — including not feeding them, forcing them to stay in the basement, and other forms of abuse — but not the two children they shared together, WFIE reported.

Porter was booked Tuesday into the Vanderburgh County jail in Indiana, where she is charged with nine counts of neglect of dependent, obstruction of justice, abuse of corpse, and failure to report a dead body — the same charges levied against Gomez Alvarez.

Both are being held without bond, jail records show.
