In the wake of a tragic incident, tensions have flared in Minneapolis, leading to unrest at a local courthouse. Demonstrators gathered to express their outrage following the fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE agent, an event that has left the community reeling.

Dozens of protesters were seen banging on the doors of the federal Diana E Murphy courthouse while chanting ‘ICE out now!’ just hours after the shooting in shocking footage shared to social media by Mercado Media.

The protests were sparked by the death of Renee Nicole Good, who was shot three times in the face after she reportedly ignored commands to exit her vehicle and attempted to flee. The circumstances surrounding her death have fueled anger and calls for justice.

Amid the protests, one individual, wearing a keffiyeh symbolizing support for Palestine, was seen emerging from the courthouse. His presence was part of a larger group demanding answers and accountability.

Video footage captured the tense atmosphere, showing the same individual striking and damaging a glass entrance of the courthouse. This act of vandalism underscored the heightened emotions of the crowd.

Despite the charged environment, not all participants condoned such actions. A fellow protester intervened, urging restraint by telling the man who kicked the door to ‘wait’ and reminding him, ‘what are you doing, bro? You can’t do that.’ This moment highlighted the internal struggle within the protest between maintaining peace and expressing deep-seated frustration.

Another video of the same group of protesters showed a woman, who said she was a lawyer, suggesting that the crowd should block the entrances.

Although tensions are high in the city, so far the reaction to the shooting has fallen short of the unrest caused by the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis in 2020.

Riots after Floyd’s death caused an estimated $500 million in property damage, the second-most in American history after the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

The protest at the courthouse was just one of many that have erupted in Minneapolis since the shooting, which took place less than one mile from where Floyd was killed.

Some protesters have thrown snowballs at ICE officers, and others have taken to the streets waving flags that read ‘FTP’, standing for ‘F**k The Police’. Some were also seen burning the American flag, as others held them upside down.

Videos shared online showed ICE and other federal agents dousing protesters with tear gas and pepper spray.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has asked Minneapolis residents to ‘remain calm’ as he slammed the DHS’ narrative of the shooting as ‘propaganda.’

The Trump administration has said the shooting was justified, with the president himself calling the deceased driver ‘very disorderly’ and someone who ‘viciously ran over the ICE Officer’ on Truth Social.

Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin claimed the woman ‘weaponized her vehicle’ and called her actions an ‘act of domestic terrorism.’

In response to the administration’s claims, Walz said: ‘Don’t believe this propaganda machine.’

The governor also told Minnesotans they have a right to protest, but emphasized that it has to be done peacefully in order to avoid giving the Trump administration justification to crack down on the city even harder.

‘I say this. I feel your anger. I’m angry. They want to show, we can’t give it to them. We cannot. If you protest and express your First Amendment rights, please do so peacefully, as you always do. We can’t give them what they want,’ he said.
